Why Are You Over Complicating It?

Kelly (Happy Mumma/Nanna)

Why are we over complicating the whole process for the average human? The average human is not an athlete, they have no aspirations of being a fit model, an average human just wants to do enough to feel better about themselves, just enough to be strong enough to lift and carry what needs to be done, healthy enough to be around into their 80’s or 90’s. The average human just needs to be educated, motivated and held accountable to get off the couch and take the dog for a walk.

Athletes need more, more training, better nutritional advice and accountability than the average human, you know the mum and dads of the world, the nan and pops of the world only need enough to get them in better shape, better health and become more consistent.

When it comes to training this part of society you have to allow and listen to all the considerations that surround them, they usually have a poor work life balance, they usually have a poor eating structure, they usually have kids more than one which is enough to throw the balance of everything out because kids add more dimension to their lives and daily routine. With kids comes extracurricular activities like sport, dancing, scouts etc so when we meet with a client from this part of society we have to factor in time, time is the essence of these individuals daily lives, from cooking tea, working, sleeping, family time, partner time, kids, weekends away cause they can and the list could go on and on but we will leave it there as you get the point surely.

Coaching these individuals comes at a frustrating price of mental sacrifice but if you love coaching them and who they are you can see beyond that and really push to make the positive impact in their lives that they need, to help them achieve just enough to find the little things in life easier to manage is the main goal for them, just to be happier and healthier without all the hooha of meal plans, diets, training 4 or 5 days a week for hours on end. They just want to know that they can show up, train as hard as they need to, be coached well, and have guidance when they need it and want it. Most times they just are quite happy to walk in, pump out their session, have a chat and go home to carry on with the rest of their day, their daily chores never stop in these people’s worlds I can promise you that.

Coaching this market, or group of individuals is incredibly frustrating as I said but also just as rewarding if not more so, watching them go from meh, to where they end up in routine where they come and put in their 100% is awesome to behold as a coach because this is the majority of our society that needs the help, needs the guidance, and not necessarily the ones that put their hands up straight away. It takes enormous courage for them to accept they need the help and then even more effort for them to ask for it and a lot of times that takes a lot of time. So I always reiterate that when they are ready I will be ready, I am always ready even when they aren't because they need to know that when they are I am prepared to go and give them 100% of me to help them.

The biggest reason I focus on this “Target Market” is because it's the most challenging and always keeps me in perspective. They make sure I am well grounded and remain humble in my quest for success along my business journey. Most of them become great friends, they become not just part of my day but my business, my family, my life and I know with the majority I can share with them my goals and aspirations and hopefully inspire them but I know I will get unfiltered feedback and very little bullshit on top.
